Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo became the second-highest single-game scorer in NBA history on Tuesday after scoring 83 points.

Context

Only two players have previously scored 80 or more points in a single NBA game: Wilt Chamberlain set the all-time record with 100 points in 1962, while Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in January 2006. Adebayo, a three-time All-Star known primarily as a defensive player, had never scored above 50 points in a single game before.

Game Details

On Tuesday, Adebayo scored 83 points against the Washington Wizards, beating Kobe’s record and placing him behind Wilt Chamberlain.
