Clintons Testify
Former President Bill Clinton and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified to Congress in a closed-door hearing over their relationships with Jeffrey Epstein.
Context
The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed both Clintons in August to testify about any connections to Epstein. The Clintons initially refused to comply with the subpoenas but agreed to testify after the House threatened to hold them in criminal contempt of Congress, which all Republicans and some Democrats on the House Oversight Committee voted in favor of.
Hillary’s Testimony
In her opening statement on Thursday, Clinton said she had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities and did not recall ever encountering him or visiting his properties. She called the congressional investigation “partisan political theater” intended to distract from President Trump’s connections to Epstein.
