Increased Offer
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced it would pay undocumented immigrants $3,000 to leave the US voluntarily.
Context
The Trump Administration launched a program in May offering $1,000 payments to undocumented immigrants who agreed to self-deport. The government created the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Home app in March to facilitate voluntary departures. The app was previously called CBP One and was used during the Biden Administration to help migrants enter the US legally, but the Trump Administration rebranded it for self-deportation purposes.
Program Details
On Monday, the DHS tripled the previous $1,000 offer to $3,000 for immigrants who voluntarily self-deport by the end of the year.
