Apology Letter
Kanye West published a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal apologizing for his controversial behavior from recent years.
Context
West has faced widespread criticism since 2022 for antisemitic remarks, including tweeting that he would go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,” and selling t-shirts featuring swastika symbols. West’s apology came days after a Miami Beach nightclub drew condemnation when video showed right-wing influencers chanting along to West’s song “Heil Hitler.” The song explicitly praises Adolf Hitler and was quickly removed from major streaming platforms and banned in Germany.
Brain Blame
On Sunday, West published an ad in The Wall Street Journal in which he attributed much of his erratic behavior to an undiagnosed brain injury from a 2002 car accident that broke his jaw.
