Shooting
At 9:05 AM Central Time on Saturday, an ICE agent fatally shot a 37-year-old man in Minneapolis. He’s the second person to be killed (and third to be shot) by federal agents in the city this month.
Video Footage
Numerous videos captured the shooting and its lead-up. In them, the victim can be seen taking videos of the ICE agents before he attempts to help a woman who has been pepper sprayed by ICE agents. They then pepper spray him and he falls to the ground, where a group of eight agents try to pin him down. While doing so, the agents toss away a gun. Less than a second later, the shots ring out.
The victim – subsequently identified as Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital – is confirmed to have been in possession of a handgun with two magazines, although there is no indication that he attempted to use the weapon or brandished it. Pretti had a permit that allowed him to legally carry in public.

Pretti’s father said in a statement, “He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as millions of other people are upset…He felt that doing the protesting was a way to express that, you know, his care for others.”
