Reduced Federal Presence
Border czar Tom Homan announced that he was working on a plan to reduce the number of federal immigration agents in Minnesota.
Context
Homan arrived in Minnesota on Monday after President Trump dispatched him to take over the immigration operation following widespread criticism of the fatal shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by federal officers. Homan’s arrival follows the withdrawal of Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino, who had led the street operations in Minneapolis and other cities.
Press Conference
On Thursday, Homan said federal officials would work to make the operation “safer, more efficient, by the book” and that increased cooperation with state and local officials would allow him to reduce the number of agents in the city.
