Mandelson Arrested
Police arrested Peter Mandelson on suspicion of misconduct related to Jeffrey Epstein.
Context
Mandelson was appointed as British ambassador to the US in December 2024 but was fired in September 2025 after documents revealed his friendship with Epstein continued after Epstein was convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor. The new Justice Department documents released in January appeared to show that Mandelson had shared confidential government information with Epstein, leading Mandelson to resign from the Labour Party.
Arrest Details
London’s Metropolitan Police arrested Mandelson on Monday at his home and took him to a police station for questioning. The arrest followed searches of two properties linked to Mandelson in London and Wiltshire earlier this month.
