Investigation Report
A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report released Tuesday said two federal officers fired their weapons during the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.
Context
The Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Office of Professional Responsibility compiled a preliminary report on body camera footage and agency documentation of last weekend’s shooting. The office normally conducts internal misconduct investigations following shootings, and basic incident reports must be released within 72 hours. The report represented the first official written assessment of the shooting since administration officials initially blamed Pretti for the incident.
Shooting Details
According to the report, a CBP officer confronted two women blowing whistles around 9:00 AM and ordered them out of the roadway. When they refused, the officer pushed them, and one ran to Pretti for help.
