Suit Filed
A group of teenagers sued xAI, alleging the company’s Grok chatbot was used to generate sexually explicit images of them without their consent.
Context
In recent months, xAI drew scrutiny after its Grok chatbot allowed users to alter photos of real people to make them appear nude or sexually explicit. Before the company rolled back the features, researchers estimated the tool produced roughly 23,000 images over an 11-day period that appeared to depict minors. Authorities in California, the UK, and the EU opened investigations.
Complaints
On Monday, three teenagers from Tennessee filed suit in California claiming a single perpetrator used Grok to create explicit images of more than 18 girls by editing photos taken from social media and school events.
