Kent Resigns
The US government’s top counterterrorism official, Joe Kent, resigned over the Iran war.
Context
Kent is a former Green Beret who completed 11 combat deployments before joining the CIA as a paramilitary officer. He twice ran unsuccessfully for Congress in Washington state, drawing scrutiny for ties to right-wing figures whom he later disavowed. He was confirmed as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center last July.
