Negotiations Resume
The US and Iran held their first diplomatic talks since June 2025, with both sides describing the meeting as productive.
Context
US-Iranian talks were initially scheduled to take place in Istanbul with several regional officials present, but Iran made a sudden request to relocate the talks to Oman and exclude other countries. The negotiations were intended to address Iran’s nuclear program and prevent a military confrontation between the two countries.
Talks Begin in Oman
US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Oman on Friday.
