Attackers Identified
Authorities identified the suspects behind two separate attacks at a Virginia university and a Michigan synagogue.
Context
Last Thursday, a gunman opened fire in a classroom at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, killing a military science instructor before ROTC students subdued and killed him.
Separately, only hours later, a man drove a vehicle filled with commercial fireworks and flammable liquid into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, injuring a security guard but leaving 140 preschoolers and staff inside unharmed. The Michigan attacker died by apparent suicide, and the attacks appeared to be unrelated to each other.
Virginia Attacker
Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, the Virginia gunman and student at Old Dominion University, entered a classroom and asked whether it was an ROTC class before opening fire, killing the instructor, a decorated Army veteran who had flown Apache helicopters in Iraq and Afghanistan.
