How Graham Platner’s Campaign Imploded
How a series of scandals has imploded the meteoric Senate campaign of Graham Platner
On October 7, 2025, I published a WeThe66 titled “Could These Two Guys Save the Democratic Party?” It was about James Talarico and Graham Platner.
At the time, neither candidate was well known and neither fit the mold of your average Democrat. Talarico is an unapologetic Christian who looks and speaks like a TPUSA chapter president. Platner is a gruff military veteran with an oyster farm who loves guns and hates tech billionaires. With the Democrats still reeling from 2024 and struggling to regain their ground with young male voters, they seemed well-positioned to make noise.
And they both have.
Despite longshot odds, both Talarico and Platner vaulted up the polls in their respective primaries and won them, earning national followings along the way. They became darlings of the Democratic consultant class and favorites of talk show TV hosts. They frequently trended on X for the wrong reasons and on Bluesky for the right reasons. They became perhaps the most talked-about Senate candidates in the country.
But controversy quickly followed.
At first, it started off for each as run-of-the-mill opposition research. Old clips resurfaced of Talarico saying that God was non-binary and that he didn’t believe Christianity possessed the fullness of truth, putting into question his image as the devout and proud Christian he claimed to be. Perhaps more damningly for Texas voters, X commentators resurfaced a clip of him saying he’s running a meat-free campaign.
For Platner, critics contradicted his working-class image by pointing out that he attended the $80k-a-year boarding school Hotchkiss and that maintaining his oyster farm is merely a hobby. He was voted “most likely to start a revolution” in high school and later went through a Marxist phase.
But, for Platner, that was just the start.

Very interesting how this rape accusation suddenly appears when he looks to be a threat to Corporate Democrats and Republicans...Which one (or both) is funding this crap???
